The Levine Center Lanterns are a collection of eight illuminated sculptures located at the Levine Center for the Arts in Charlotte, NC. The glowing stainless steel lanterns have a classical timeless posture that is easily recognizable and will become focal points for the identity of the district. Their small footprint yields to the activities of the street while their stately stance announces the cultural campus. Illuminated by HID light they betray very subtle shades of silver at night, while during the day the stainless steel rods reflect and refract light when sunlight fills their volumes. The markers assist in way-finding, while impressing upon all those who walk among the Center’s cultural institutions, be it day or night, that they are both practical and beautiful.
