Description

Using the character image of the “Coyote” from Native American mythology, this garden and landscape restoration creates a juxtaposition between the original bunchgrass ecology of the Channel Scablands and its transformation into an agricultural landscape. This desert garden uses a range of local landscape materials and native plants to generate a statement about the role of “Coyote the Trickster” in defining the largely forgotten myth and the character of its landscape. Inmates built the garden under the direction of Cliff Garten and the Coyote Ridge Corrections staff.
